Yes, You’re Selling Yourself Short

I could never pull that off
I can’t do _____ any better than I already am
It’s my genes
He just can’t handle how awesome I am
Don’t mess with anyone who gets in the way of your vibe
Ignore all opinions that make you feel like garbage
If you agree with any of these, or find yourself saying things like this on a regular basis, I’m here to say that you’re selling yourself short.
Like, criminally short.
It’s fine to accept and love yourself, but most of our friends—and the people whose advice we regularly seek out—are just like us. Not only that, but they are like us: we choose people with similar attitudes, opinions, lifestyles, and values. We end up clicking with people who pretty much think the way we think.
But what if everyone you knew was wrong?
